My New Year's Resolution

I love the gym at New Year's time. The parking lot is packed with people who obviously have stated, yet again, "I'm going to get in shape this year." These are the same people that will be paying for the next two years on a gym membership they use once a month, and the membership card will stay in their possession until they have the New Year's resolution of getting rid of senseless wastes of money. I feel the train has sailed for my fitness resolution of losing twenty pounds and having biceps so large that "I'll have to sell tickets to the gun show." ... But I digress... My resolution this year is to forego instant gratification. What does this mean?!? I 've decided this year to take babysteps. I am so eager to tackle a goal like losing twenty pounds, that I push myself hard for a week or two, and then get discouraged at the amount of ground I haven't made up. So this year, my goal is to tackle all my large goals in "bite-sized" sections. I'm reading the Bible over the course of the year (PVC Route 66), I'm shooting for losing two pounds by February 1st (Valerie Bertinelli inspired me), and I plan on increasing my guitar repetoire one song at a time (I'm taking requests). It's a long road ahead, but it's easier tackling every day one-at-a-time, instead of tackling the whole year today. I'll keep you updated on progress.

I hear you on the gym thing. Heidi and I are members, but rarely go. The gym has a term for people lilke us: PROFIT.
